Why does the phone take two weeks?
Carriers check every new business line before they'll show your shop's name on caller ID, and moving a number between carriers runs on their schedule. Two weeks covers both. If your old carrier sends the paperwork back, it can take longer, and we'll tell you the day we know.
What happens to my current phone meanwhile?
Nothing. It keeps ringing where it rings today. If you're bringing your number, we pick the switch day with you, and the calls move over that day.
Can I keep my shop's number?
Yes. Bring the number you have, or start with a new local one. Either way it belongs to your shop, and if you ever leave, we help you take it with you.
Does the phone line send texts?
Not today. The line is for calls, and appointment reminders go out by email.
Is there a contract?
No. The plans and the phone are month to month, and you can cancel either whenever you like. Yearly billing just saves you 10%. The only term anywhere is the 24 months on the optional counter iPad, because that one is hardware.
What does the AI cost on top of Shop AI?
Whatever your AI provider charges for what you use, billed by them, with nothing added by us. We set a spending limit on the account with you, so it can't surprise you, and you can see every dollar in your own provider dashboard.
Do you process my card payments?
No, on purpose. Keep the card machine and rates you have. CarLifeOS records every payment against the invoice and gives you a clean end of day, without taking a cut of your sales.
Is my data locked in?
The opposite. Every week CarLifeOS writes your customers, vehicles and history to plain spreadsheet files, and you can run a fresh export any time. Leave whenever you like and take everything with you: your records, your website's domain, and your phone number.
How do I switch from what I use now?
We do it with you on a call: your catalog with your real prices, your repair-order numbers picking up where the old system left off, and your website built before you go live. You keep your old system until the day you don't need it.
What hardware do I need?
Any computer with a browser. For the sign-in app, any iPad works, or add ours while they're available. The phone needs nothing extra: a headset helps, and that's all.
